How would you describe the year 2012 for Pakistan's Music Industry? 2013 (by Farhad Humayun)

Pakistan Musicians be it practitioners of POP Classical or Folk Music have enthralled listeners with their superior creations through out 2012.  More recently Fusion music has gained much appreciation.  Blending Pop compositions with flavor of regional FOLK and SUFI mysticism that has become a trademark for Pakistan Musicians. (This latest news and Auditor by Midhat Ali Zaidi in Sunday Plus January 2013).

I think things have picked up this year.  One can see lots of new videos coming out.  Corporations are pumping money into music which is good because musicians are coming out with more content and bad because corporation dictate the kind of music that should be played so it suits their campaign. Most bands seem to be ok with that because they're getting mileage and the opportunity to be seen and heard but there are others who are struggling to express themselves. If you ask me, I shall be happy when some company or management group decides to take bands to a live performance arena where audiences can see and hear the nuances and the energy individual acts have.
