Great Musical year 2013 with Drums and Coke Studio

I personally had a great musical studio season and sang two songs with my band overload-It's the firest time a house band member has done that.  Overload's songs has been featured in the film "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" by Mira Nair.  A lot of business and production projects came through this year which Overload and I will be working on.  We released "Ankhai", which gathered a lot of attention and acclaim and the public has started to view Overload in a more serious light. TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPECTATIONS AND PROJECTS IN THE COMING YEAR 2013? 2013 will mark the 10th anniversary of Overlaod. We are planning lots of activities.  I am really looking forward to it. I aim to see pending productions through and release a new album in the summer.

How would you describe the year 2012 for Pakistan's Music Industry? 2013 (by Farhad Humayun)

I think things have picked up this year.  One can see lots of new videos coming out.  Corporations are pumping money into music which is good because musicians are coming out with more content and bad because corporation dictate the kind of music that should be played so it suits their campaign. Most bands seem to be ok with that because they're getting mileage and the opportunity to be seen and heard but there are others who are struggling to express themselves. If you ask me, I shall be happy when some company or management group decides to take bands to a live performance arena where audiences can see and hear the nuances and the energy individual acts have.

I am impressed by 20 year old guitar player and composer, Usman Riaz who is developing into an artist of substance.  Usman contributed a beautiful instrumental version of saeein for the Junoon 20 album.
